Living and surviving in the urban sprawl means different things to different people. Equilibrium USG (Urban Survival Gear) understands this and has developed a Portable All-Purpose Containment (P.A.C.) System which conforms to multiple and diverse lifestyles. One unique feature of EQ Bags is the interchangeable and customizable Skyn. As a manipulator of media, utilize EQ’s Skyn as your canvas to illustrate your vision.

SKYN DEEP is a competition that empowers digital artists & bag aficionados to actively participate in creating new Skyns for EQ. Your Skyn design should intertwine different aspects of street culture and informational design ultimately culminating to represent your view of “Urban Survival.”

Once your masterpiece is complete, email layered files to info@equnit.com in either:
+ Vector file (AI, EPS, CDR, SVG…etc). Color setup should be CYMK.
+ Raster file (JPEG, PSD, PNG, TIFF…etc) at least 300dpi and color setup should be CYMK.

One entry per artist:

+ Voting Begins: Monday, August 2, 2010
+ Winner’s Revealed: Saturday, August, 28, 2010 @ AKIN (2350 N. Clark, Chicago, IL 60614)

We’ll be scouring through submissions for the freshest artwork.
The best of the best will be posted on Equilibrium’s web gallery to be judged.

After a short introduction of the Equilibrium USG bags, B96’s Jay Nice setup a quick meeting to demo the bags at B96’s studio. Astonished by the modularity, versatility and style of the bags Jay, Julian and Shelly are excited to get a collaboration going with the EQ crew. Hours before the the game with the Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Bobcat’s, Stevie Graham took some time to visit Equilibrium USG at AKIN. Stevie loved the store with their wide selection of J’s. With his NBA lifestyle, Stevie chose to rock the 17″ Recon P.A.C. system which consists of the large harness, 17″ Recon messenger & Kid Static’s Space Invader skyn.

If you guys werent able to come to the event, you missed out sucka! Lucky for you the trusty media peeps at Unscene were at the spot to give you the full score. Here is a glimpse of the event. All in all we were very happy and very thankful for the warm support that we got. Now if you missed out on this event, don’t worry we are going to be doing a product showing over at AKIN (1313 S. The theme of Infinite Variation brought to mind endless levels of marching 8 bit alien warriors bent on destruction. From a distance the piece looks like static. Up close you can see that every single invader is different. Seriously, I dare you to find two that are alike. There are also homages to my other two favorite 8 bit games hidden in the mix.
