COLOURFUL LOVE
Style is the key to all forms of rocking and Urban Survival is about blending all colours into 1 beautiful piece.

BACKARILLA
Incorporate the strength, determination and calmness that is given from a gorilla on your back.

GUARDIAN TIGER
Living in urban city is fun, but at same time, it is very dangerous. Any person could be attacked at any moment. However, this skyn “Guardian Tiger” will work as an amulet.
In Japanese culture, a tiger represents power and fear. It is unusual to choose the tiger as theme. However, it represents the power, so the tiger could be the guardians of the person who carries this skyn, and scares a person who try to attack.

ONI MASK
A traditional Japanese Noh theater mask adaptation. I see the Urban Survival Gear as a heavy duty stylistic graffiti bombers bag. I believe its skyn is a graffiti permission wall, a mobile freight or EL train with a top to bottom burner on it to be viewed by the masses. With this in mind, one would expect a certain stereotypical style of design to be applied. I thought does Urban Survival Gear design in this context need to mean trendy? It could be to some. But, I want people to expect the unexpected. I seen a chance to showcase and infuse the traditional customs of a culture and add my creative twist. The “Oni” design is not only a marriage of graphic design and fine arts, but a part of my cultural background and artistic style. I believe the “Oni” could be considered an ingenious design. I was hoping it could influence the opinions of consumers and designers alike to appreciate other forms of artistic pursuit.

UNIVERSAL AVENUE
The universe is such a massive space. There is so much to see and discover.Living in an urban atmosphere is much the same.We float around running into the strangest and greatest things. The knowledge that we have not seen all there is out there in space is the same as in our urban environment. The way survive and the way we get by is by embracing our differences, and enjoying the discovery of them.

EXIT TO THE LEFT
The inspiration for this piece came from my travels abroad where my awareness and perspective of art and life changed completely and for the better.  On my travels, I noticed textures, graffiti, old rip posters, and what most people would probably consider garbage, walking through the streets.  Places and people and things that I have never seen before here in the States.  But unlike most people who travel and site see the “pretty or interesting” places and landmarks, I tended to notice the culture and the way of living more. What most people walked by and paid no attention to, I took an interest in and saw the beauty in it.  The urban streets of the world, even though most are busy and loud and dirty, are filled with beauty in the most unlikely of places. If more people where to just stop and pay attention and really see what a magnificent world we have created (especially in the “mess” of it all) we may all be able to see that there is art in everything around us. I wanted to try to express that beauty (in this piece) and try to give people a chance to change their perspective on urban life.

URBAN X-ING
Living the “urban” life, your submersed into life of ongoing action and chaos. A place where you can easily get lost both mentally and physically; however, day by day you begin to find your own way of surviving in this maze you call home. You find your passion, your escape to your own reality. Whether it be music, dance, art, fashion it brings you closer to happiness. Peace.
With this comes Urban Survival. A mixture of the everyday x-ingsigns we use to get around, to understand what’s going on in our environment when words aren’t enough, with people’s individual passions. A representation of their own way to get around in their world.
This specific design represents people that are influenced by music, but this design concept can be expanded to create designs to represent dancers, fashionistas, artists, etc.
This is urban survival.

DRAGONFLY LOVE
The use of gardens and plants in the urban setting such as chicago create an oasis from the hectic urban life. I love all the side walk cafes and rooftops with the use of flowers and plants to beautify the space not matter how small.

STRUCTURE
EVALUATE, ADAPT, OVERCOME, SURVIVE. This is the method to surviving in any environment. In the urban sprawl, collectively, the inhabitants must figure out a way to continue living in their current location regardless of adversity. Enter G-Cans, Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel, a massive underground waterway and water storage area built by the Japanese government to protect Tokyo from flooding during the monsoon seasons. the $ 2 billion project took almost 2 decades to complete and is able to pump 200 tons of water per second (this can even drain tsunamis). Purpose built for one thing URBAN SURVIVAL.

BATTERY LIFE +
“Metaphor” Life is like a battery there’s always a positive and negative end. The battery is an iconic visual element I chose because it best represents the era we live in. The recent years technology has driven many of our lives and has shaped us in one form or the other. Without technology our lives would be very different from today, so once again I’ve taken the form oftechnology(battery) and use it to remind many that life will always have ups and downs.
So strap on a USG kit and power it up with a BATTERY LIFE + and let it aid you in your URBAN SURVIVAL!

EYEDEOLOGY
Ideas are not often associated with “urban survival,” but the reality is that they are essential to one’s well-being in any setting. Without ideas there can be no acts taken to persevere. Therefore, ideas are foundational to one’s survival. They protect and help us prevail from the daily battles we face. The tribal art in this piece symbolizes the protection and help that ideas bestow.

GRAFSPINE
A minimalistic colorway mixed with an intricate grafstyle are combined to form GRAFSPINE. Artist wants to make sure that if you pick his design….he’ll have your back in more ways than one!

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
There are so many types of people that try to survive the urban sprawl & each one does so with whatever skill, attributes, & tools they have. I ended up daydreaming & thought to myself, “what if they all duked it out?” So, I turned it into a video game of sorts.

URBAN SURVIVAL KIT
Drastic times calls for drastic measures. An urban nomad’s bag shows it’s contents under an x-ray. All of the essentials for living and surviving in the urban jungle. Jocking the tools of the trade (computer, phone, DSLR, 9mm, knife, brass knuckles, keys, cheddar, etc.)

DJ CONTROLLER
houndstooth background with headphones and turntable vectors.

AIR REBEL – FUMA MASK
The mask represents the idea of surviving through an urban war zone which is a part of the heritage of the grafitti culture, expressing that Urban Survival is the definition of Grafitti, since its the graff artists that document the true urban upbringing.

Gorilla Godfather
The “Gorilla Godfather” resembles the rise to a higher status through the constant struggles of the concrete jungle. Only the strongest survive in an urban environment.
