A panel of ARTISTS have been selected to judge their favorite work of art.
EQUILIBRIUM USG has the last vote.
PRIZES:
Winning SKYNS will be reproduced in a Limited Edition run.
Artists have the opportunity to sell their work & make commissions.
Skyns will be featured & sold in AKIN @ UIC’s University Village on 1313 S. Halsted.

SOUP FIXINS
One of the things I like about painting fruits & vegetables is the “infinite variation” that’s inherent in the subject. While anyone can have an idea about what a potato or onion looks like, no 2 potatoes or onions are identical – however similar they might be. Add to this the seemingly endless varieties of each vegetable type (there are 3 VERY different looking turnips in this design) & you really do end up with endless variations. When observed closely, the unique character of any living thing can be discovered. The painted vegetables & fruit that make up this design come from two different paintings – Soup Fixins #1 & Soup Fixins #2. (click image to enlarge)

SINK OR SWIM
My idea was to have all these different forces opposing one specific character or host. When overwhelmed and faced with adversity, one has to dig deep, forge ahead and decide to either sink or swim. (click image to enlarge)

NEEDLEHEAD
An otherwise plain, uninteresting ragdoll… customized by some sicko by painting a big grin on his face, then stitching him up with button eyes and wings made from twigs…and for some reason he’s bleeding from where a large needle punctured his head.” (click image to enlarge)

INVADERS
The theme of Infinite Variation brought to mind endless levels of marching 8 bit alien warriors bent on destruction. From a distance the piece looks like static. Up close you can see that every single invader is different. Seriously, I dare you to find two that are alike. There are also homages to my other two favorite 8 bit games hidden in the mix. ELEMENT 6
This piece is my passion from both comics and cartoons! Like Voltron, these characters represent all elements of Water,Fire, Green life, Strength, and cooties from girls like sugar and spice equaling Love! The ATOM in the center represents life all around. (click image to enlarge)
